Happy International Women’s Day! 💃 This goe Happy International Women’s Day! 💃 This goes out to every woman who feels she cannot live up to society’s (unrealistic) expectations. ✨ To every woman who is hiding their real emotions from the world because they have been told to smile one too many times. ✨ To every woman who has chosen to stay home with their children, those who have chosen to work after having children, and those women who have chosen to not have children at all. ✨ To every woman trying to “do it all”, trying to fill an impossible role and sacrificing their mental health by doing so. ✨ To every woman who feels they are more valued for their appearance than their intelligence, achievements, or true self. Those women who feel they need to dress up for others, diet, and be a pretty object to stare at. ✨ To everyone who identifies as a woman and is helping break society’s gender roles. You are welcome and accepted. I see you and I celebrate YOU - not society’s expectations of you. There is no need to apologize for the phenomenal woman that you are. 💫 You are not too bossy, not too loud, and not too small. 💫 You are enough to get that job. Enough to sit at that table. Enough in just your existence alone. Society’s expectations need to change - not you. So take up space, use your voice, AND empower other women to do the same. ⭐️ The secret to women’s empowerment is WOMEN. ⭐️ 👯‍♀️ Helping lift other women up will not bring you down. It will not create more competition. When women come together, they can create change. They can succeed. This world needs you, as you are in this very moment. #nofilter Be a living example of what is REAL and show other women it’s cool to be themselves in this world. 😎 This beautiful graphic is by @lovelyboydesigns
A N D happy, fortunate, proud, full of love. 💞 A N D happy, fortunate, proud, full of love. 💞 The postpartum period is filled with so many emotions. These emotions can co-exist and sometimes change by the hour. Unfortunately, all that we tend to share with one another are the good parts. The love, the joy, and the happiness. #blessed❤️ amirite? Sharing the good parts with our loved ones is important. But it’s just as important to share the harder parts, as difficult as it may be when everyone expects you to be happy. ❣️ If you are in this challenging period, know that you are not alone - even if it seems that way. Find other people who can honestly discuss their own experiences. Tell your doctor. 👩‍⚕️ You are not the only one experiencing these feelings of loneliness, shame, sadness, or anger. Your feelings are valid. ❣️ If someone you love is struggling in this postpartum period, please listen, acknowledge their feelings, and don’t rush to point out all of the good - it’s dismissive. They just need you to sit with them in this experience, to feel seen and heard. The Journal of Prenatal Medicine states that the postpartum period can last up to 6 months. These feelings can impact us well beyond that timeframe if we keep them bottled up. 🗣 Give a voice to those thoughts and feelings. By normalizing the postpartum experience, you’re not only protecting your own mental health but for all mothers as well.
